Our members include regular officers and Specials, ranging from constable to chief inspector.
Our mission

Our mission is clear. We strive to be the voice of our members, advocating for their rights, welfare and wellbeing. We understand the unique challenges faced by police officers daily – whether it’s the physical risks involved in frontline work, the mental and emotional toll of the job, or the legal and professional standards they are held to.
We are here to ensure that our members are treated fairly and equipped with the necessary support when they need it most.

Going above and beyond for our members
At Northumbria Police Federation, we go above and beyond to deliver holistic support that is relevant to our members locally. Our proactive approach means we can react to our members’ requirements when they need it most.

On-site physiotherapy
Launched in April 2020, we reconfigured the office to create specialist, fully-kitted treatment rooms, enabling physiotherapy for our members of our Group Insurance Scheme. Our in-house team of clinicians include physiotherapists, a chiropractor, and a sports therapist.

In house counselling
We recognise just how vital it is for Police Officers, Police Staff and Special Constables to access mental health and wellbeing support. We are proud to be able to offer a counselling service, including advanced trauma treatment, delivered to our Group Insurance members five days a week.

A private healthcare scheme
In 1989, we launched the Northern Police Healthcare Scheme, a not-for-profit healthcare scheme designed especially for the police family. Now called the National Police Healthcare Scheme, it provides subscribing serving and retired police officers, police staff, and their families with quick, seamless access to top-quality medical treatment.
