Post Incident Procedures

Northumbria Police Federation also have a number of Post Incident Procedure (PIP) trained officers. A PIP is normally initiated following the death or serious injury to a member of the public where officers may have had some involvement prior to death or injury, and are usually investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IOPC).

Likely scenarios include Deaths in Custody, Police involved RTC's and the discharge of Police Firearms. Our representatives provide 24/7 cover, 365 days a year, and are available via the duty Force Operations Managers (FOMs).

We run a PIP themed training day for all officers once a year and would encourage all officers to attend the next event if you haven't already done so. Details of PIPS Seminars are circulated by email broadcast with the opportunity to add your details to an appropriate Helpscreen on the Force system.
